Dreaming of goldfish tank... | |
Ferox Enthusiast Posts: 219 Kudos: 187 Votes: 28 Registered: 19-Dec-2003 | The other day I saw a type of goldfish i haven't seen before, it was called a 'Japanese Doll' and looked like a black moor, except it was creamy coloured, and may have been albino. And I started thinking how good one of those would look with a black moor if they got really big... So I'm just wondering how big a tank I would need to get if I planned on getting a 'Japanese Doll' and a Black Moor. I'd go with a tank that'll be sure to provide space to let them hit full size at full speed, minimize maintenance until they're grown, and really allow swimming and interaction space: about 100 gallons. Plus, let me tell you, that "shaky period" after one first buys a fancy goldfish when it "might die" because they're "Sensitive"? - Doesn't happen in a large tank. Although of course you'd only be adding the two, it's still nice to buy the two you want and not have a problem! What could you get away with? Maybe 75 gallons. Less than that and what's the point? Small tanks are for small fish - goldfish deserve their space as much as an oscar, koi, or Arowana. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

I had heard that the minimum was 20 gal per goldfish, so does that mean another fish or another sort of fish could be added to a 75 or 100 gal too? <Vet in Training> Blog under development: http://www.nearlydrferox.blogging4life.com/ |

Any 12" fish, but particularly one with the kind of mass and body shape the goldfish has, deserves a lot more room than that. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |
