Well, thats it, I phoned my LFS today, they took my goldfish fry, and my black moor, whom I have had for two years now, and grew quite attached to. And my lovely Goldie is hopefully going to a pond not far away from me, so I will be able to bob in now and then to see how he is enjoying his new space. The decision to move them to larger homes has been a long time coming, too long really, but I have had the Goldie years, and it was hard to admit to myself that he needed more room than I could provide, and then a long time to actually do it...but the deed is done, and though it leaves me sad, I know they more than deserve their new larger homes.
So I will be without fish for a while, as I plan to strip the tank down, do a fishless cycle, something I have never done befor, but have learned a lot over the past couple of years reading here and there, and get some tropical fish, I will keep you updated as I go.

A now fishless Tee

Teebee that must of been hard to do, but I think you have made the right choice, don't do a fishless cycle, just get a few hardy fish.

I thought it was kinder to do a fishless cycle, why do you say use fish?

Alot of people don't rate fishless cycle as they get problems anyway, it's up to you.

Oh OK, I will have to do a bit of reading up then, I haven't actually read anything about problems with fishless cycles.
I am in no rush to get fish in there, I just want to make sure I get it right, so as I said, will have a read, get a few opinions and then decide which way to go...have you tried cycling without fish, if so, let me know how you got on.

I phoned my LFS to find out how Blackie, my moor was doing, They told me they have a lady who they phone when a big fish comes in, and she says she will take her, she hasn't got the same space as Goldie going into a pond, but she has a nice big 6 foot tank going spare, so she has double the space she had And the day I left her, she was eating blood worm by the evening, so she settled in nicely Makes me feel a whole lot better.
Goldie didn't go when I thought he was, he has a week today befor he goes in his new pond, so I will use that week to slowly cool the water down, as his tank stays quite warm through the summer.

Teebee you are making me want to cry, never had to let pets go but I can understand how you feel, they all should be fine in their new homes, that should make you feel better.
