One of the benefits of goldfishes is that there are a lot of companies producing high carb food for them at good prices. Check out http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Coldwater/45932.html for information.

How big is the aforementioned tank?

Goldfish IME sometimes take a while to get used to a new food.

Never really had a food that a goldfish wouldnt' eat .

45 gallon is too small for a goldfish it'll stunt and die...55 gal is min for fancies common need a pond. In order to grow they need the space to grow. Too heavy of protien foods without enough veggie will often cause swim bladder issues.
