I had over the many years about 5-10 high fin loachs and couldn't get them to live untill i unlocked the key and that key is to keep them by themselves. At my wholesaler i have seen alot of bigger high fin loachs as 30$ each. Not bad so i picked up one. i have seen them in stores at double the price and half the size. I would recommend anyone to keep this fish. My question is since there is little written about this fish would anyone know who to breed it?

What is the scientific name of the high-fin loach? I can't find anything on google about it.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

Have you tried searching Google? There is a lot of information using the scientific name. Also, if you didn't know about it, then why did you buy it? More importantly, why are you recommending it if you don't know anything about it?

Basically, it is a fish that gets about a meter in length when full-grown.

"The truely unfortunate thing about this species is that by the time it reaches a year in age, it has changed its basic shape from a deep bodied species with a high dorsal fin to a long, slender cylindrical species with a low dorsal fin. Its marvelous contrasting colors fade into a dull blackish brown, and, if properly housed, it continues to its potential length of about 3 feet in length. So ironically, the highly desirable Chinese highfin shark, if it is fortunate enough to survive, turns into a fish that would hardly anyone would give a second look to - a sort of ugly duckling in reverse."

Yeah, that is the URL for Google. It is an internet search site, that's all. It is very useful. I use it all the time.

They can also be called high fin banded sharks as well. I love the way these fish look but they pose 2 problems. They are a cold water fish and plus they get too too big and don't look please as adults. The full adult size is 40 inches (don't look anything like themselves when younger) and I don't think you would be able to breed them unless you have a huge pond or if you want, turn your swimming pool into a big breeding ground for them.

here is one link www.csupomona.edu/~jskoga/Aquariums/myxocyprinus/myxocyprinus.html

For more info search under High Fin Banded Shark.
