I just saw a 8' round, 2' deep stock tub. I either will be buying that or building my own. This will be an indoor pond. I have not decided if it will be filtered or not. How many goldfish could be kept in that size pond, filtered and unfiltered?

Without filtration-none unless you want to do a lot of water changes. Goldies are extremely messy. You could start off with only a small circulation pump when the fish are young as long as you vacuum up the "stuff" that will accumulate on the bottom. For a well filtered tank I suggest one for every 30 to 50 gallons. This will vary greatly depending on who you talk to and/or what books you reference. Doesn't seem like much for such a large tank, but keep in mind, they will quickly get up to a foot depending on the type. My favorite is the shubukin with its long fins and calico colors

Well, I now actually plan on having at least some sponge filters. If I end up building my own, I'll build-in some opens for Penguin 330 power filters.

I was actually only thinking of 8-10 goldfish for the pre-made 8' round pond, so I guess that will be fine.
