I have 3 gold fish and can't seem to get a straight answer anywhere. How often do I feed these guys? I hear from 2-3 times a day as much as they can eat in a few minutes to every other day. What's the deal?

p.s. they always look hungry...fatties!

1-3 times a day and as much as they will eat in a few minutes, the more you feed the faster they grow.

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

That's what I figured...can't believe the guy at the pet store said once every other day...I stopped listening to his "advice" after that. Thanks!

goldfishes stomachs are only the size of the fishes eyes. 1-3 times a day sounds good.

1-3 times a day is great...but just to make life the easiest on you, feed them once in the morning, and then once in the evening, and only as much as they will eat in a few minutes...yes, they always appear hungry, and piggy. That is one thing that I loved the most about my goldies Just be sure that they are in a large enough tank (abt 15-20 gallons/goldfish) and be sure to keep up on the water changes...they will only reach their full potential size if you do Best of luck, and don't forget to add some veggies to their diets, they will eat most anything

I feed once a day. One day a week is a food free day. They eat the elodea on that day. I don't like to feed more than once a day because I don't want them to get a dirty house.

This question is kinda dependent on the variety. You should not be feeding a fish that is no longer a fry more than once a day is what I will start with. Goldfish are gluttons and while yes they will grow faster that is not necessarily a good thing, it shortens the lifespan and can create other problems let alone the difference in the coloration of the fish etc. Goldfish in a tank should not be fed more than once a day what they can eat within 4-5 minutes. They are extremely heavy on the bio-load as it is.

Fancy goldfish are better candidates for this sort of spoiling than comets or commons who need to be kept within a normal size range. 2 feet of fish really is enough.
