I have some relatives who got a pond about a year ago. The pond is 200 gallons, and has a little bit of an algae bloom. We sometimes hear a frog there, too.

My question is: they want to put some goldfish in. What are some easier varieties, both fancy and non-fancy, and how many can fit in the pond?

you never ever really want to mix fancy and non fancy goldfish together.

i think that koi and comets and commons will get to big for a 200 gallon.

it would be great to know the weather by u? is this an all year around pond, so the right fancy goldfish can be decided.

my guess would be a red cap school.

I think you could actually do a few commons (3-4) or do some fancies (8-10) Koi would be too big for that size but commons/fancys stay under 12 in.

Shubukins They look like koi, but do not get as big as comets. They also can be found in a vail tale variety. I've been keeping them for years people always ask me where I got my cute little koi.

Well, evidently the goldfish are doing A-Ok, but 1 got eaten by a mink. They got a mix of shubunkins and orandas, and it looks very cool.
