Some of you know I've been trying to find a temporary solution for the goldfish I rescued from my bosses dining room table. He is in a stock tank for now...I'm still hoping to find a pond for him.

Step One: Rearriange Living room

Sofa was rotated, tv was moved, old stereo removed (I'll need to purchace a new reciever) bookshelf moved

Step Two: Tank Work

The lip had to be cut to fit the filter on, AC 300 holds almost a gallon of water itself

Step Three: Acclimation

Fishy moved from a tank with a ph of 6.4 to one of 7.4, additionally there was a dramatic temperature shift. I will be keeping an eye out for ich, but hopefully it was done gradually enough.

He looks so small in the tank, but will soon outgrow this one as well.

He's still a little mad @me, this is the closest he came to my hand, he normally grabs peas right from my fingers.

Awesome. Did you use the hacksaw? I'm so glad it worked out for you and you will be shocked how many people love the idea of an indoor pond. I miss mine. Just watch out for humidity.

No kidding! With how small my house is the 20 gallon is enough that you notice it ....I'm working on a cover for the pond to @least reduce loss during summer....but like a few other things it's not going quite to plan ...didn't end up using the hacksaw, my wonderful step dad did it for me with the dremel (don't ya just love parents )

I would have put it in the dining room but for sanity I wanted it against the load bearing wall,...the tv is now where my ancient stereo was, next to the tank...yes I need a new reciever so I can have my stereo back, dvd, vcr and ps1 are in front believe me not a pretty sight .

t'anks RustyBlade, yeah I hope he appreaciates it too...or @least stops swimming away from me every time I come to say hi, I've never seen a fish sulk so much . I'm going to try some hornwort and see if he settles down a bit, I don't think I can offically plant it as I've no plans for lighting it ATM.

It's technically 50 gallons, but you'd have to fill it up to the tippy top and that's just asking for trouble , right now it holds only 37 (yes I counted gallons of water not really much better, but it has a footprint larger than a 55 gallon tank...he's about 4" proof that stunting happens as he's about 3 years old...much better than the tulip bowl I rescued him from with 2 others .

Yeah it's a futon it's my sisters and is the most uncomfortable thing EVER, can't sit for more than half an hour w/o having my neck kill me...I say toss the futon, get another tank :%)....but it is good for sleeping with the fishies

I'm planning on adding a few houseplants around the base to hide the tub...If I had a few more tools I would have acutually built a support for the tank with seating around it, kinda like the window seats you see in older houses.

^_^

YAY Babel! I'm glad it worked for you! I hadn't even thought about cutting the lip -- although I'm still considering filtering options for mine. I have time yet.
