It may be that African Clawed Frogs are illegal, but African Dwarfs? Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

Frogs, like all amphibians are pretty resilient and hardy, and can handle just about anything. Very lovely little critters too. A 5g would be much better, a 10g would give her way more options. I dont know if you have stores that sell tank kits like we do here, but I picked up my 10g tank, came with hood, tank, filter, heater, for 39.96 Canadian. Thats only $42.50 AUD. Not very expensive at all. A 2g tank here costs more than that by itself! Bigger is sometimes cheaper and better anyway. A Betta really needs a heated tank. There are really no options for a coldwater 2g tank. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

It gets down to -20F in the winter and we don't let the house go below 65. Guppies would probably be better than bettas but they prefer 60s. Even snails need 65F or above. Within a few days below 60 they will die. I don't know of anything that wouldn't mind temps that low and fit in a 2g tank. |

labrakitty Fish Addict Posts: 740 Kudos: 435 Votes: 9 Registered: 12-Nov-2004 | My friend wants to get a small tank. It will probably be around a 2 gallon and no bigger. It will have to be coldwater, and she doesn't want a skinny fish like a white cloud or danio. Do you have any ideas? I though maybe a small paradise fish, or are these too big? Can bettas survive in cold water 2 gallons? She doesn't have heating, just a radiator, so it would get pretty cold at night. Thanks for your help, I need answers ASAP, as I am seeing her tonight, and I would like some suggestions by then, thanks. |

The issue IMO isnt so much the low temp as any shifts in temp in a 24 hour period. No chance of a heater for it? ^_^ and life's like an hourglass, glued to the table No one can find the rewind button girl, So cradle your head in you hands And breathe, just breathe..." |

labrakitty Fish Addict Posts: 740 Kudos: 435 Votes: 9 Registered: 12-Nov-2004 | It would probably go down to around 15 degrees celcius at night, on a really really cold night maybe 10 degrees celsius. |
