Not only are they from a region where the water temps do not drop that far but they also live in muddy banks which is a tad bit warmer than the usual water temperature during winter. omavus Fingerling Posts: 19 Kudos: 9 Votes: 7 Registered: 25-Jun-2005 | OK then. Do you know of any catfish, such as Pleco, that can live in an outdoor pond? I live in Malta and air temperature in Winter does not get lower than 10 degrees Celsius, maybe 8 degrees least and rarely does - water never freezes amd neother does snow fall. And a Question for Jason Pisani: Do you know from where I can order FibreGlass tanks? |

omavus Fingerling Posts: 19 Kudos: 9 Votes: 7 Registered: 25-Jun-2005 | OK ... just got from a holiday - bought 4 juvenile Koi. Currently in a 2 square foot tank but will be in a 10 feet x 5 feet tank by 2 weeks time. Currently feeding pellets with 36% protein. Any suggestions about anything that regards them and might be of interest in my situation is greatly appreciated. |

katieb Fish Addict Posts: 697 Votes: 69 Registered: 03-Jul-2004 | I think so. Theyre small now and it should work long term. But if you end up having to make more room, i dont think it would have to be a huge addition given the size of it already. I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |

katieb Fish Addict Posts: 697 Votes: 69 Registered: 03-Jul-2004 | "Any suggestions about anything that regards them and might be of interest in my situation is greatly appreciated." The other poster gave you exactly what you asked for. You wanted suggestions and he said you needed a bigger pond. Remember if your fish is not housed properly, it will not live as long as it should and may not grow as it should. Water quality may also become an issue. I think koi need at least 300 gal a fish. If my calculations are correct your pond is about 55 gallons now. One thing that you will find on this board is that sometimes you get advice you don't want hear, going to another board that only tells you what you want to hear won't help you or your fish =\ Eta: My calculations were incorrect. Forgot to make them in inches. I shouldnt post when im tired =\ Last edited by katieb at 22-Jul-2005 12:48 I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |
