I was out feeding the ducks yesterday evening and we had our first fish sigthings of the year......spring is really here!! So far we have seen a couple of the bass, a ton of the bluegill and about 1/2 of the catfih (including 2 babies from last year :-)....cute little buggers). No sign yet of the grass carp but they were the slowest to turn up last spring too (must be that the bigger/fatter ones sleep the longest since they have the most body mass to allow hibernation???). Even more exciting there are already fry darting about in the shallows among the cattails.....not at all sure what the ducks are going to think about their new *friends* since the fish had pretty much settled in by the time the ducks decided to start going in the pond last year but we'll see.......

LOL - yes, it is *large*........it was here when we bought the house so I am not 100% sure on the exact measurements but the person who dug it out says he layed it out to be 50ft wide x 150 feet long and it has a deepest point of almost 10 feet (average depth of 4 feet).

Granted that's for a tank that would have square sides ...but it gives a rough idea .
Blue gills sure are pretty our local lake (man made back in the 40's) has them ...stocked for fishing .
