Does anybody have any tips in general for ponds. Mine would be if your building one go as big as you can and oversize your pump.

Mine would be to spend more time planning ... when we put in our first pond, we were so excited that we didn't take enough time to research and figure out what the issues would be. As a result, we ended up with a too-small pond with a lot of algae and water-quality issues.

When we enlarged it, we spent a lot more time figuring out what we needed to do for our own particular setup. We made it five times bigger, made sure it would get a bit more shade, added a waterfall (for extra aeration) and a skimmer (because we live in on the edge of the woods and leaves and debris are an issue.)
