I can only imagine what it's going to look like once all the plants start to really come in.. We have been considering the idea of a stream for our pond as well since one of my husband's handyman magazines had an article about building them.. Very good job.. SheKoi Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 553 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-Feb-2004 | It's cool, but are there any purposes other than decor? as said it does house bacteria on the gravel and helps put lots of oxygen into the water, but the main purpose is to look good. then the bog area is for removing nitrates as the plants will use them up. Glad you all like it. the patio area near the large pond, has now been done and the dry stone wall has been continued around the lawn area, and more plants have gone in pond, stream and garden. i'll post some more pictures soon. www.blooming-brilliant.co.uk |

Looks great shekoi, just wish i could get my grandmother to do something similar with her pond |

SheKoi Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 553 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-Feb-2004 | don't sure how they got there, i think they are the larvae of some fly. they look like small red worms, when they swim they kind of fold in half ( U shaped) then flick out. have you never brought live ones before? they are very common to buy in england. i'll try get a photo of all the creatures from the pond tomorrow. www.blooming-brilliant.co.uk |

SheKoi Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 553 Votes: 4 Registered: 11-Feb-2004 | stream is now finished. i'll post some picture soon its around 13ft long with to small water falls then the fall into the small bog pond then a fall into the main pond. the stream that been planted with surface growing plants and grasses, the edges have hostas and large flowering plants against the wall. then small rock plants around the front (where patio will be soon) and inbetween the edge rocks. had couple prodlems, the pump was to powerfull when we first tested the stream and the water went over the sides in a few places. we inceased the height of the liner around the edge and put more stones on it. we decreased the flow from the pump by having it run the filter box to. it's been flowing now for 4 days and i'm about to start the cycle, with water and filter matrial form my pond and a couple of feeder fish. the stream has already attracted frogs which are now living under the waterfalls, and both ponds are full with baby mosquitoes and bloodworms, so fish should have feast when they move in [span class="edited"][Edited by shekoi 2004-06-18 05:58][/span] www.blooming-brilliant.co.uk |

fish_dude Big Fish Posts: 334 Kudos: 231 Votes: 2 Registered: 21-Jun-2002 | Question for Shekoi or anyone. When you build your stream what did you use for the liner to hold water in. Just cement? If you did use cement are you worried that you might want to change it some day. Thx |
