As Tetrafan said, goldies get REALLY big. 7 inches + for fancies and 12 inches + for commons, and thats underestimating their potential size. They need a large tank. What is your tank size now? Welcome to FishProfiles! Hope you sit down and stay awhile, the people are great, and you'll learn lots! We had a problem with a goldfish eating a cory on the board a few years ago. Additionally you have the incompatibilty problem. Goldfish need a minimim of a 75 gallon tank for the space. Jannas estimates were well on the small side. A fancy fish cannot grow to 12 inches in a tank that is only 12 inches wide, a comon goldfish will get 2 feet long and more and belongs in a pond. Goldfish, even fancies are much faster than ADF at getting to the food, ADF often require hand feeding as they're slow to get to the food. ^_^ Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] |

It's not like we expect her to dig a pond as soon as she reads this post! It takes time to purchase a new tank, and honestly, if those two little goldies are the only things in that tank and she keeps on top of water quality like mad, they'll be alright for a little while. yes I realize that goldies need big tanks, but so, apparently, does she, now. |

Here this the answer you were looking for: Considering that the goldfish will become stunted in a 20 gallon tank it's not likely that they will live long enough to grow large enough to eat an ADF. The ADF is likely to starve or be poisoned by the additional waste that goldfish produce, but no the goldfish is not 100% guaranteed to eat the ADF. Welcome to the site. I hope you stay around and learn something . ^_^ Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] |
