If you just recently got them, then its normal. They are still getting used to their new environment and to people coming close to the tank. In a couple weeks, they'll be more comfortable and swim openly. I got some new fishes as well and most of them are still scared.

How big is the tank, and what are the test results for ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate?

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

Well i have had them for 5 days now. The tank has just recently had a water change. It is a 3.88 gallon acrylic/plastic tank.

I'm sorry to give you some bad news, but your fish will not fit in that tank. They could be laying down because they are being poisoned by ammonia. You need to take them back as soon as possible. For a tank that small, a betta would be appropriate.

You need 10gal per goldfish as a rule as they are big waste producers, and the best filter you can afford, I would also recommend that you take them back.
