fish suggestions? | |
raggamuffin Small Fry Posts: 9 Kudos: 4 Votes: 0 Registered: 28-Jun-2005 | I am looking for some fish or other creatures to live in a 55L unheated tank with some native australian shrimp (from the murray river-I am correct in keeping the tank coldwater, right?). anyone have any suggestions for fish? I like the idea of having an all australian tank and so was considering some pacific blue eyes (psuedomugil signifer) or australian smelt (retropinna semoni). neon rainbows (Melanotaenia praecox) cant live at room temps can they? thanks in advance, ross. |

That's much too small for rainbows. I dont know aussie species, but whatever you do pick shouldnt have an adult size larger than 2 inches, shouldnt be an active fish and shouldn't be a tight schooling fish. There are a few fish that do fine with room temperature, however the temperature in any room has a tendency to shift a good deal in the course of a 24 hour period. That's what causes fish stress, fluctuating temperatures. Even a shift of a few degrees from the lights being on to evening temp with the lights off is enough for many fish that they becomes stressed. Stressed fish leads to sick fish. ^_^[hr width='40%'] The life, the love, You die to heal. The hope that starts, The broken hearts... I’ve got another confession my friend, I’m no fool.
