ideas for hexagon 18g tank | |
bubbly Small Fry Posts: 13 Votes: 0 Registered: 02-Aug-2004 | I have an 18 gallon hexagon tank will soon be empty. It has an under gravel filter, and an air pump (with an air curtain). I do not plan to have a heater. Does anyone have any suggestions for what fish it would be suitable for? I also have a 5 gallon tank. I am hoping to find a fish(or two) that could live happily in it with no filter pumps, heater etc. Just regular water changes. (it maintains 24c)(Betta?) any suggestions welcomed |

A small filter for your 5gal, would open quite a few possibilitys as well. I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |

bubbly Small Fry Posts: 13 Votes: 0 Registered: 02-Aug-2004 | I think I will stick to a Betta then. That was my original plan, but I'm yet to find a really nice one. Thanks Kitten Would that be for a heated tank though? or room temperature (24c) It would be nice to have a small skool though. [span class="edited"][Edited by Lindy 2004-08-14 07:02][/span] |

bubbly Small Fry Posts: 13 Votes: 0 Registered: 02-Aug-2004 | My tank is great but still no little friend in it! I have to look after my mum and Dads house and pets for a week, so I will probably wait til I come back from there. I wouldn't want to have him for a couple of days, then only see him once a day for a week. I want to keep my eye on him. thanks for asking, it feels good to be able to get advise from kind friendly people. Bubbly xxxxxx |

Most of those suggestions would probably do best in a heated tank. Bettas could probably be okay without heat, as long as the temperature is fairly consistent. As for the ADF's, you can look at this thread to see a pic of one of my sis's frogs... he's quite cute. http://www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/thread.asp?id=44982 ~Meow. My 5g Mini-bow maintains a temp of 78-79 just with the tank light. There is a slight temp change overnight which I feel is similar to what the fish would experience in the wild and hasn't caused any obvious problems (ick, etc). edit: Forgot about your 18g question...without a heater you don't have too many options. A paradise fish would be nice, or a school of WCMMs. You could try to find gold or red long-finned varieties if you want something a bit different.
