My friend has one also and she has done fine with the weather (as long as the pond is deep enough and wont freeze). We are going to get a heater though. Also, about the animals....all ive seen at my pond is cats and the pond is to deep for them to reach down into. My friend who has the pond had a heron eat her fish last summer though.
