Fishie561 Fingerling Posts: 33 Kudos: 56 Votes: 1 Registered: 28-Jun-2004 | Hello...my dad tester the pH of our pond using a pool test kit. There was no chlorine and the pH was 7.8...is that good? What should the pH of a pond be at? If our pH isn't right, how do we change it? thanks |

It is nearly impossible to artificially keep the PH of a large body of outdoor water like a pond at a certain level. Koi Empty chairs at empty tables, the room silent, forlorn. |

vic Enthusiast Posts: 213 Kudos: 228 Votes: 288 Registered: 16-Mar-2004 | With alot of Rain and the PH being at 7.8, Curious to know what is will raise to when it settles...if this is an aged pond, then I agree nothing should be done to lower the PH. However if this is a newly formed pond, 8.4 or higher is actually getting dangerous.....What type of rocks are in the pond? White Rock of any kind? These are usually the most common that leach calcium and raise the PH level this high.... |

vic Enthusiast Posts: 213 Kudos: 228 Votes: 288 Registered: 16-Mar-2004 | If you get the white rock and scrape it some, drop some Muratic Acid on it(Home Depot) and if it bubbles up, its not good for your Pond.....And as far as lowering your PH, depends on where it is....again, if its 8.0 or lower it will be fine.....If its any higher, theres nothing your going to get or do to get it lower, IF you keep those rocks in there....It will just cont to rise after you lower it....Thats when it will become dangerous for your fish......constant change of your PH...... |
