Hello...my dad tester the pH of our pond using a pool test kit. There was no chlorine and the pH was 7.8...is that good? What should the pH of a pond be at? If our pH isn't right, how do we change it? thanks

do not mess with the ph. it will lead to bad problems. your ph will be fine. as long as there is no chlorine then everythings good

wow, not much rain lately?

Just leave it be as suggested. everytime it rains the ph of the pond will naturally lower. It is nearly impossible to artificially keep the PH of a large body of outdoor water like a pond at a certain level.

With alot of Rain and the PH being at 7.8, Curious to know what is will raise to when it settles...if this is an aged pond, then I agree nothing should be done to lower the PH. However if this is a newly formed pond, 8.4 or higher is actually getting dangerous.....What type of rocks are in the pond? White Rock of any kind? These are usually the most common that leach calcium and raise the PH level this high....

The pond was formed a few months ago. Yes, we have white rock covering the bottom of the pond. Is this dangerous to the fish, should we try and lower the pH?

If you get the white rock and scrape it some, drop some Muratic Acid on it(Home Depot) and if it bubbles up, its not good for your Pond.....And as far as lowering your PH, depends on where it is....again, if its 8.0 or lower it will be fine.....If its any higher, theres nothing your going to get or do to get it lower, IF you keep those rocks in there....It will just cont to rise after you lower it....Thats when it will become dangerous for your fish......constant change of your PH......
