I was wondering what would the measurments be for salt to water ratio for brackish water?

It all depends on the fish you are planning to keep. Most BW fish start out in low-end BW & move up to SW as an adult. The minimum for low-end, would be around 1.005. That would be about a cup of marine salt/5gal of water. Best measured by a hydrometer.

That's what I use, I keep my sg at around 1.010 and discovered that I can simply halve the directions. I use a quarter cup per gallon. You would probably want to use between 4 and 5 tablespoons per gallon to reach 1.005. Best thing though is to use a hydrometer to make sure the sg is correct. Hope this helps!

How could 4-5 tbsp/gal add up to a cup/5gal? I wonder how many tbsp there is in a cup?

There are 16 tablespoons in a cup so it would be close to 4 tbsp per gallon. 5 would probably be too high for 1.005.
