Hi all,

I recently purchased two purple-spotted gudgeon (Mogurnda Adspersa as far as I can tell) under the impression that they were gobies. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had experience with them or knew whether or not they are actually brackish fish. Also, are they gobies or related, because they do look very similar.

thanx,
puffer_archer

Any ideas on how aggressive they are? I've found other information on them, but none that indicates whether they're generally peaceful or very aggressive. I know they'll eat smaller fish, but I was wondering how they would be toward similar sized tankmates.

That's really cool pufferpunk Did you have any luck raising the fry?

Yes, & still have a male 6" "baby", I raised from an egg. These fish are not aggressive at all, but are predators & will eat anything they can fit into their large mouths. This is why I only have one from hundreds of fry. He ate all his siblings!

Do you have a picture of the female or of the male and female together? I'm suspicious that both of mine are males but haven't been able to find pictures depicting both.

For absolutely no reason at all, I found my 6" "baby" dead this morning! His parents got boiled in a heater accident about 9 months ago, so now I have none. The male is much smaller in length & girth & is much more colorful than the larger female.

oh no! That's not good. That sounds like my Green Puffer, he died without warning too.

I was wondering...do they like a sand substrate better than gravel, and will they dig in it?

Mine was usually resting on something or swimming near the middle or top. Never noticed any digging.
