It probably just had that folded down. It could've been a different Polypterus species, but your secription fits this guy to a T. Although I'm pretty curious - maybe you could call the store and double-check the latin name?

It wasn't a senegalus or whatever that was. It didn't have that spiky dorsal fin at the top.

There are peppermint angelfish going for 4-14k each. they are a species of centropyge that live in the twilight zone and are very hard to collect.

here's a short profile of Polypterus senegalus. the fish you saw was an albino version of this species. they are awesome fish and I love them. I have a regular and albino senegalus as well as 4 other species of polypterus. these fish are also known as bichirs. I bought mine for $40 US. they are much easier to come by here in the US though, hence the much lower price. on average they probably run around $60-80 US...I got a really good deal on mine.
