well, i got home from easter with the family last night just in time to catch one of my dwarf albino frogs swallowing my smallest tiger barb!!! MAN!! i was a little bit perturbed, and i was worried about what the little boogers were eating!! This is the second one that has "gone missing". SO>>> should i buy little fish for the frogs to eat? if so, what kind and how many at a time? I was worried about the tf barb eating them, but he gets along with them good...
AND one more question...what makes a fish twitch isolate himself and stay at the bottom. One of the blur gourami's that i bought has been this way since i got him. over a week now and he's still doing it!!! everyone else is fine! water parameters are good. i have done 2 25% water changes last week...what's up with him?

Well this dwarf albino frog could very possibly a african clawed frog. i have 2 of them and they grow to be very big. Instaead of feeding him small fish, they eat frozen bloodworms, frozen brine shrimp and they also like shrimp pellets. Those foods are probably safer to feed him cause you never know if the small fish you get from the fish store have some kind of disease then the frog could get it. I would keep all fish smaller than him out of the tank he is in or they will become his dinner too- what size tank do you have him in?

Most albino frogs sold are African Clawed Frogs and will eat the fish in your tank.

Yes, any albino frog will be an ACF. I would not use "dwarf" to describe them becasue they can get up to 8 inches long! The only dwarf frogs are ADFs and they are not available in albino.

I would really suggest that ACFs be kept in their own species tanks or with other large fish like large chichlids. However, that might be hard for you since you already have a tank set up. Depending on what is in the tank, most of those fish will be eaten. The only kinds of fish ACFs will not eat are top-level fish such as gouramis because ACFs are primaraly bottom feeders.

You do not need feeder fish. In fact, most predatory fish that are often fed feeders do not need them at all. It is solfully for ammusement purposes. Feeders can introduce diseases and are low in nutrition. I would suggest feeding with frozen bloodworm or brine shrimp cubes. Live earth and blood worms do work too, but are not nessecary because these frogs hunt by smell, not movement. In fact they are nearly blind and are often seen snapping at each other as if they have the hiccups.

I have no answer to the second question, but for any more info on ACFs, pm me.

Best of Luck

It's better to take the Frog out of the tank & leave it as a fish tank only. You'll find more missing fish & a fatter Frog very soon.
