ok..i finally purchased this product from HDL (yukon shopping centre....it claims a one day cycle for the tank.)

observation:

i used it in my 10g tank. i estimated it(as it came in powder form instead of the usual liq form). 5 minutes after, i added 3 leopard danios. after 2 days, tested the water for NH3= <0.25 ppm, nitrite=0.3ppm (so, its not an actual 1 day cycle afterall!!!) ive decided to add a little more of the product.

on day 4, NH3=0, NO2=1.6. added a little more.

and on day 7 NH3 & NO2=0, NO3=<5ppm. i complted the cycle in one week.

the near future...i'll do it in a 75g tank..and see how it will go!!!

anyone ever used this product???

I don't believe that it will cycle in one day, it may speed up the cycle process. The quickest product I am aware of for cycling is Bio-Spira.

I've never used that one or Bio-Spira, but use a similar brand I've bought at PetSmart. Don't remember the name off hand and am too lazy to get up and find the bottle...but the liquid is purplish in color, and does a great job, each and every time...I usually complete a cycle within a week even on my big tank

Heidi Michelle, I think the purple one is Stress-Zyme. I didn't have great results with that. I used that with New Imporved Cycle, and my tank wasn't cycled fully until after I added Bio-Spira. It seems to work, but the Stress-Zyme does take much longer.

I have had great results with Bio-Spira in two of my tanks. I never lost a single fish after using it, and the cycle was complete after about a week or so. I also used some after re-stocking my 30g, it was empty for two weeks, and the tiger barbs were healthy hand happy as could be with a little dose. I reccommend it to anyone, the only drawback is the price and availability. I have to order online, and there's only one place I've been able to find it. I think most LFS' are scared away by the price and the fact it needs to be refrigerated, and will not stock it.

I've also used Fritz-Zyme #7, and really cannot say much for the product. It looked a lot like Bio-Spira, and the label said great things, but it never did anything for the cycle.

I use cycle and it seems to help. Is stress zyme a cycling chemical? I thought it was used to get rid of chlorine. I have stress coat, stress zyme, cycle, and amonia lock. I add 2 drops of each when I do water changes on the bettas and they're healthy.

I used Bio-Start, which is a synthetic ammonia. It cycled my tank in 12 days without fish.

Tankie, to tell the truth, I have no idea what any of them do . So I just add them all! I've had the bottles for at least a year now and they're all about 1/3 full.
