What is the max size fish you can have in a 20 gallon long by itself? I think I heard somewhere that it is 6 inches but I wanted to be sure.

Does anyone have any ideas on a large (if 6" is large) "wet pet" for my 20L? I was thinking datnoid, but I decided against that. It turns out they hit 2 feet, which is just a tad bit bigger than what I can hold.

So.....shoot

it depends...

what kind of pet were you looking for?

amphibians? cichlids? predators? schools?

every species is different in their behavioral and dietary needs, so maybe if you let us know what kind of fish you had in mind, we'd be able to make a few suggestions.

I'm thinking predatory fish. I just want one. It doesn't have to be a specific kind of fish, like a chichlid or something.
