I am restocking my 10 gallon, which at the moment has 2 bettas and 6 platys. I am putting the fish in another tank, and restocking the tank. I was thinking of having:

2 blue rams
5 splashing tetras

I will do weekly water changes, and i have an Eheim Aquaball internal filter which is made for a 20-30 gallon tank. The tank is also heavily planted. Here is a photo of it, but it is from a while ago, i have more plants now.:

It wouldn't be really overstocked. The Rams are smaller than most (who havn't kept them) would think. They are honestly about the size of a cory. I think it could be done, but the Rams really do prefer more space. Also, try a different smaller tetra such as glowlights, cardinals, neons, etc... instead. Also, splashing tetras like to jump (they even breed by jumping out of the water and laying eggs on an overhanging leaf), so if you did get them you would need to have a tight cover with no holes.

I would leave the pair of Rams on their own & try to breed them.

I already have the splashing tetras and I have had them for a while with no problems. I don't want to breed the rams because of limited tank space. I think I will try the setup and see if it works. I will be doing weekly water changes too.
