Would it be too much of a bioload for me to put a small school(6) of either black neon tetras or glo-lite tetras with 5 ghost shrimp in a 10 gallon. The current filtration is an aqua clear 20 and a aqua tech 5-15, if that helps. Current parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 0 nitrate .

How long has the tank been set up, and did u actually test the water for those parameters or are u just guessing those parameters. Because i dont think i have ever had my nitrates exactly at 0 unless it was right when i set my tank up. You might be able to get away with it but it might be pushing it.

Not at all. I would say:

8 glo-lites/ black neons
5 ghost shrimp

Some suggestions, if I may. If you can find Amano shrimp and they're not too expensive, I would suggest them over the ghost shrimp. They're the best algae eaters the aquarium trade knows of.

Also, any DW arrangements and plants you can add would be for the best. Real simple, find some DW and tie a couple pieces of anubias or java fern onto it. The fish and shrimp will love it, and it'll help fill out the tank as well.

Back in the saddle!

not at all, but be sure the tank is cycled and well established as the tetras are not that hardy and may not survive the cycling process

Yea you'll definitely be fine with that stocking load. And as stated above, you could even have a few more tetras. Just keep on top of the water changes.

Thaks for the replies. I sorta figured that would be an acceptable bioload. And just for those that are curious yes the tank is cycled and yes I did test and get those parameters. I do weekly water changes of 40 to 50 percent and am usually very sparingly in my feedings.
