I am restocking a ten gallon tank I have had for awhile now. I am moving my black neons to another tank.

This leaves me with 1 male cherry barb(harassed the to females I started with)

I know that a ten gallon is hard to stock so any suggestions would be great.

open to all ideas. tetra, live bearers, etc.

A school of small tetras would work out well, as well as a few ottos. Ten gallons isn't really a lot of space, so you are pretty limited as to stocking. Most of the common livebearers won't fit, except for guppies and Endlers. The others get too big, and are too active.

I'm surprised that you are having trouble with your male cherry barb though, as I've never witnessed aggression from this species.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I plan on having a tank of a pair of cherrys and 6 pygmy cories if they become available. I might try using the Onyx Sand from seachem in the corie tank.

Sparkling gouramis, a dwarf gourami, a small group of small corys, a school of small tetras, otos, a betta, female bettas, shell dwellers, kribs, 3 or 4 small loaches, guppys, African dwarf frogs, a newt (newts and ADFs have special requirements though), threadfin rainbows... What do you like? All those fish are suitable for a 10g, but not all in the same tank of course :%)

Out of the listed above, these are combinations that I like:

sparkling gourami species tank

dwarf gourami, small school of tetras, 3 otos

threadfin rainbows and sparkling gouramis

6 corys and a school of tetras

betta, a school of non nippy tetras, otos

newt tank w/ land

betta, ADF (if they'll tolerate each other, depends on the personality of individuals), otos or corys

sandy bottomed shell dweller tank

guppy breeding tank

female betta species tank

krib breeding tank

... just to name a few. The possibilities are nearly endless, as long as you stay within a reasonable stocking limit, pay attention to compatibility, and keep up with your maintenance. The question is, what do you like?

Hope that got your creative juices flowing

I thought a krib breeding tank would be bad news in a 10 gallon from what alot of people have said. Although kribs are awsome fish i was advised not to do it.

Racso and I have had success with it. *shrug* I guess it's one of those things that will sometimes work and sometimes not.
