I was wondering what a shrimp tank should be like other than just have shrimp in it? Im looking for a bunch of different types to put in there. As of now i have 5 algae eating shrimp. I also was wondering if i could put any fish in with them, I was thinking 4 flordia flag fish?

4 Florida flagfish would be fine in that tank The shrimp would probably appreciate leftover food from them too

If there is any leftover

Your algae eating shrimp, may really be Amano (Japonica) shrimp.. Are they whitish with a tan stripe along their back ?

Ghost shrimp, red cherry shrimp, bee shrimp, and amano shrimp I can see working well in this tank.. Also some filter feeder shrimp. However, I'd recommend removing the amanos and re-scaping the tank if you're adding cherries or bees.. The amanos tend to be a little aggressive and 'swarm attack'new smaller shrimp if not. Java Moss would really be appreciated in your tank. Good luck !

I have a 7 gal shrimp tank that I've had running for about a year, and I really love it. I have various strains of neocaridina species (cherry reds, green and blue varieties, etc.), plus some bumble bee shrimp, and You can mix amanos, ghost, even singapore filter-feeding shrimp. They are all pretty harmless to one another and can co-exist in a surprisingly small space.
However, I do not keep regular fish with my shrimp anymore. I've tried tetras and sparkling gouramis with my shrimp, and the population of shrimp soon dwindles, and the rest of them hide so I never see any shrimp, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a shrimp tank. I have kept otocinclus with the shrimp, though, and that has worked well.
Just remember to provide them small caves to hide and molt in, feed them foods rich in calcium like spinnach or broccoli, or Hikiari's crab cuisine pellets are good, too. Also, add a little bit (1/2 dose) of marine Iodine to the water which works sort of like stress-zyme or stress-coat for fish.

Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean...

Sparkling gouramis like most labyrinth fish as well as cichlids will kill or at least pick on shrimp. You can usually keep tetras and other top swimming fish with shrimp and cories or plecos are usually fine. Sparkling gouramis are on the top of the list of fish not to mix with shrimp unless you have a large heavily planted tank so the gouramis and shrimp don't come across each other too often.

I feed mine an occasional meal of crushed shrimp pellets (cannibalism, I know..) and Hikiari makes a crab cuisine pellet that they seem to like a lot. They'll also appreciate some crushed algae wafer once a week or so. I feed mine very other day, something different each day or a combination of foods.
