I stopped off at the LFS on the way home from work (bad day, needed retail therapy ) and picked up some guppy boys to fill in my 12 gallon tank. I also picked up a nice java fern windelov (eight bucks, but hey, if it reproduces like my other java fern, I'll be drowning in windelov soon. ).

I came home with four guppy boys (one lovely metallic blue, one red/sunset, one with an orange spotted blue tail and one half white/black. The last one was selected by my fav LFS employee... he thought it had really unique coloring, and it does... my description doesn't do him justice.

I rearranged my tank when I got home, removing all the fish and decor. I attached java moss to the driftwood and laid it down instead of having it propped up in the corner. The plants went into the back corner and the glass pots were scatter around the wood. This is intended to be a very whimsical tank, and completely different from all my other natural tanks.

After adding the fish back - small betta girls and two other guppy boys, plus the new ones - I discovered what killed two of my other fish (and here I thought they just got caught in the java moss!). The smallest betta girl took one look at the new guppies, grabbed the small black/white one by his dorsil fin and started shaking him back and forth like a dog with a toy!

I had to physically bat her away from him, then scooped her up in a net and yelled at her. Before putting her into the holding bucket I'd had the fish in, of course . I trucked her over to the twenty gallon and introduced her to the big girls tank... where the betta girls are four times her size. If she's still being a royal witch when I go upstairs again, she's get solitary confinement. Grr.

Anyway, I dumped melafix in the 12 gallon and will hope the little guy recovers. He had a bit of blood on his now-ragged dorsil fin, but he doesn't look TOO bad. He's a very nifty lil guy... his tail has almost a lyretail shape, and I can't wait to see what he looks like when he perks up a bit.

Anyway... pictures!

*kicks little evil betta girl*

That looks like it will make a happy home for the little guppies

And the java fern looks quite green...usually the plants I encounter at the lfs are rather...pale Hope your guppy gets better soon.

Kitten pass the little heffer here, i'm gonna beat her senseless]:|right along with the bn here in the 75 gallon for jumping who says bn are bottom feeders

Anyways if the little heffer tries to take on the big girls or the bn, i would have to agree solitary confinement, she apparently doesn't need as much room or company

And I want to see the pictures all I'm getting are red X's :#( heidi
