BeastKeeper![]() Big Fish Posts: 444 Kudos: 389 Votes: 47 Registered: 27-Apr-2004 ![]() | thanks for all the replies about the tank! i already have a south american tank with some big oscars, jacks, texas, etc... but this 150g will be displayed in our dinning room along side my 29g tropical tank. i asked the fam and they said they want big fish like my oscar, so i think im going with a frontosa or arawona tank. so what are some other big fish i could do? |

It seems like everyone does a community with angels and tetras. though nothing against it. I had an idea for a community with smaller CA cichlids once. |

Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 ![]() | You have to go with some Corries on the bottom, 1 or 2 big schools (10-15) you will never regret that ![]() , then a huge school of tetras 20+ neons or cardinals 20+glowlight tetras 20 Emperor tetras , yes that would make an awesome tank![]() ok ok ok, so I'm just saying what I ultimately want in my 125, but it is an awesome tank and with another 25 gallons, you could go and get more:%) oh yes bigger is always better Ok I'll leave now heidi"I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Community 2. African Chichlid 3. Aggressive Community 4. Species Only In a tank like that, you can house any of these happily, as long as you do not mix them. I, personally, would go with a community. You could have a big tank with tetras, cories, and angels. The angels would grow large enough to be centerpiece fishes, making it a "show" tank. In an African community, it would be harder to do that because most compadible African chichlids would have to be of a general size. You wouldn't be able to have and "show" fishes except for a pleco or something. In an aggresive tank, you could have stuff like oscars and Jack Dempseys. This would be the best example of a show tank, becasue all the fish are big and eye-catching. However, it might be a bit boring because most large fish are also very slow. Finally, you could go with a single species, or even a single fish. A discus tank would be a beautiful show tank. Or an arowana might be an eye catcher. Picking your fish isn't something I ask that much advice on. It's your tank. You pick what you like Best of luck - DJ :88) Last edited by djtj at 13-Mar-2005 12:07 |

Janna![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 ![]() | Well, that depends on the fish that are going in it. I am going to be setting up a 135 gallon show tank soon also. I'm making it heavily planted with driftwood. It will be an asian bio-type, and it's going to have a huge school of harly rasboras. Of course, that wouldn't work if you're doing African cichlids. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |
