I have decided to put my platies in another 20 gallon, along with the betta and adding some other fish, so I am left with Minty, my peppermint BN in a 20 gallon.

I would also like a school of 12 tetras and a dwarf gourami. I am debating on what tetras though. I don't want rummy nose, lemon, cardinal or neon, so please don't suggest any of them. I also already have pristella tetras, so not them either.

I appreciate your ideas, thanks!

P.S. Do you think these stocking options would be ok>

1=
10 male platys
1 betta
6 hastusus corydoras

2=
12 tetras of some sort
1 dwarf gourami
1 peppermint BN

12 tetras of some sort (Diamonds are nice, i might get them someday)
2 sparkiling gouramis
1 peppermint BN

That might work good luck

How about a school of flame tetras or white fin ornate tetras? The later one is a bit bigger though, so I'm not sure about a dozen of them in a 20G (maybe 6?). Good luck deciding!

Are your definitely decided on tetras? I personally like harlequin rasboras Peaceful and excellent schoolers; mine very much appreciate their 20 long.

Sparkling gouramis are nice but because of their size get lost in larger tanks. I'd definitely go with the larger gourami.

I am definitely having a dwarf gourami, i already have had parkling gourmais, and I asked for tetra ideas, not stocking ideas.

I like the diamond idea, and maybe flame tetras. I also love cochus blue, but sirbooks told me they were unsocialable, and not suitable a while ago, is this true?

I am not very interested in harlequin rasboras, sorry.

I will go with 8-10 tetras then.

labrakitty,

I know you said no Neons or Cardinals but:

I would ask you to consider Black Neons. You probably know that they are not just a color
variation of the Neon but an entire different Tetra. They are not getting too big (maybe 1.5”
to the 2.5” of a Diamond), so a larger school is possible in a 20G.

Or, how about the Glow Light Tetra? It also does not grow too large (1.5” ) and you could
have a nice school of them.

Let us know what you will decide,

Ingo

Black Neons are quite nice, but have you considered Emperor Tetra?.
