u can edit your own thread to fix that btw

and maybe some corys, a betta, 2 male guppies....hmm, maybe some sort of schooling fish?

or u could make it a ram breeding tank, 2 pairs of rams, and use a 10 gallon for fry to sell back to a lfs

If it's for a five year old, I'd say go with a lot of color... you could simply put a bunch of male guppies in there and be done with it... lots of color and dash and movement, sure to entertain.

To add comedy to the tank, try a school of cories (all the same kind). Nothing more amusing than seeing six cories frolicing about, running into each other and playing leapfrog. They work well with just about any other fish.

I'd put up a big caution on fishyhelper's suggestions... MOST male bettas will destroy male guppies' fins. They see them as a threat to their territory because they resemble another betta.

Female livebearers usually come pregnant from the store, so unless you want to show a five year old the lessons of "eat or be eaten", I'd advise against any mixed sex groups of livebearers.

I don't suggest schoolers because they're not as entertaining for younger children. You can't name them individually unless you spend a LOT of time staring at the fish... I'd suggest fish that are easy to tell apart, such as guppies or other fish with individually distinct patterns.

Platties, maybe? They come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Also, a dwarf gourami or two might make a good choice as a centerpiece fish.
