With the Rams add a school of Rummynose Tetras & you wouldn't be disappointed.

Maybe try...

2 Bolivian Rams
6 Small Cory's (panda or pygmy if you can find them)
6 small tetras (rummynose, cardinals, glowlights, etc..)

That should work out fine in a 20.

Go with the rams, but you can be creative with any mid-level fish.

First off I would suggest planting the tank. It adds an amount of security for the fish, plus helps make the tank more natural looking.

The thing with a smaller sized tank is, you want to make it look bigger than it actually is. Look into certain kinds of dwarf fish, if you can find them. Micro-rasboras, dwarf cories etc. The above suggestions are great, but don't let them limit you...

I LOVE Bolivian Rams. I am looking for them to put them in my 55 gallon tank.

Here is my suggestion

2 Bolivian Rams
3 Danios
6 Cardinals (or neons or other small schooling tetra... I don't really like rummynose so I don't recommend them)
6 Corys

That would be fully stocked then.
You might be able to add a SMALL algae eater such as a small pleco. A lot of people like bristlenose plecos. I personally think they kind of creep me out so I don't like them. I would suggest a clown pleco.

I would also say add LOT of plants! And get LOTS of pics and show them to us!

Good Luck

Sounds pretty good to me. I don't have any objections. Only a question. Where are you going to find a candystripe pleco?

The problem with that is there will be too many fish on the bottom, it will be hard to see them all. I have 1 bolivian ram and 13 serpae tetras in my 20 and it's constantly full of activity as they like to nip each other. If all goes well, I'll add a female bolivian ram and maybe a trio of chochus blue tetras down the road.

And if the Bolivian Rams breed, you may have problems because they may be more aggressive toward your bottom feeders.
