I don't need to, I have six skunk cories. They definitely seem to need each others' company, and I really wouldn't confine just three of them to one tank. Corydoras can become lethargic if there are too few of their own kind in a tank, and perk right up if more are added. As for the axelrodi, good luck finding them. They're pretty cool cories, but you don't see them for sale often, at least I haven't. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | corydorasworld.com says 3 skunks will be fine, it says 3 or more, Banded are really cool, the smalles ive found too. |

Basically what I've already said, except the numbers differ slightly. Which species are you referring to as the banded Corydoras? There are a bunch that could go by that name, including a number of small cories. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | i was sure it said 3, unless that was a different site. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | That was the page for the arched cory. It was this link for the skunk cory were it said 3 or more, I think Whoever made the info on Corydoras planet has just copied and pasted, because everything in the care section is the same for every one of them. http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_arcuatus.php |
Tetra Fan![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1203 Kudos: 1081 Votes: 63 Registered: 11-Apr-2004 ![]() | Ive Just seen Bumblebee Gobies!!!! Im getting some now definatley. This can be a problem in many aquarists...especially beginners. They see a fish and then must have it....disregarding the requirements. I don't know much about bumblebee gobies, but I think they are brackish water. Now about your stocking list... 2 Bettas m/f (I guess it's ok since you aren't having any problems...jsut be sure to reomove one or the other if tihngs get rough) 5 Neon Tetras (go ahead and boost the school to 6) Ok, so they are fine...now...here is what I say you could add... 1 more neon (or 3 to make it 8) 6 Cory's (skunks since you like them...though I prefer smaller cory's such as pandas for 29 gallons...just my preference really) 2 Rams (Blue or Bolivian) I think that would be ok. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | thatnks, Bumblebee gobies are fresh and brackish, they do well in both, There really cool, Ive looked them up a load. Ill look up rams, if there cool yey!!, ill also look up pandas. Banded cories are small, skunks are a tiny bit bigger. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | Yep I meant a diff kind of shrimp, Ive Just seen Bumblebee Gobies!!!! Im getting some now definatley. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | banded cories are smaller than pandas pandas at 5cm and banded at 4cm. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | You know I was looking for a small cory? Why didnt you tell me about the pygmy cory!!! thats what im getting. How many bumblebees should i get? And how many pygmy cories?? I'll get some plantpots |
Tetra Fan![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1203 Kudos: 1081 Votes: 63 Registered: 11-Apr-2004 ![]() | I don't recall bumblebees being hardy when I looked them up. Also, what is your pH? Rams, are actually pretty hardy if you get them from an lfs because they will have similair water to yours. Bolvian Rams on the other hand, are quite hardy and if you aren't comfortable with Blue Rams go for the Bolivians Also, banded cory's aren't smaller than pandas are they? The pandas I ahd were tiny. Also, pygmy cory's are the smallest of them all I think...I got 2 by mistake and they stayed less than 1 inch the year I had them (moved and had to return fish)You could try with the bumblebee gobies, but I really think they do better in Brackish. oh, and you can probably keep about 8-10 pygmy cory's since they are so small...but I will have to double check on that. As for plants, you do know that jumping into plants requires more time and equipment? Not trying to steer you away from them, they make for beautiful tanks, but they require higher lighting and sometimes co2. I would make a post about plants in the plant section if you wish to enter that area of fishkeeping ![]() Also, here is a thread I had about plants...there is some useful information towards the bottom. ![]() information starts with trystianity's first post Good luck ![]() Last edited by Tetra Fan at 22-Aug-2005 10:34 |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | I already have a load of plants, ill send you a link to my website when its done so you can see, I meant plant pots, As hiding places for the cories and gobies (see I've done my reasearch lol) Bumblebees can go in fresh, brackish, and salt, most people say they do best in brackish, but will be fine in fresh and ok in salt. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | Please no one say anything about the gobies or the Bettas, I have reasearched reasearched reasearchd, my bettas are now Fine, and I dont know about the Bumblebee gobies yet because ive not put them in. I will post here and on the website if they are good. I have done lots of the website. I will work on it now for an hour. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | My tank PH is neutral My water is hard (about 7.5) I used PH down ![]() |
Tetra Fan![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1203 Kudos: 1081 Votes: 63 Registered: 11-Apr-2004 ![]() | Changing pH with chemicals is dangerous business and usually results in an unstable environment. I would steer clear of them. Oh, and try to fit all your ideas into one post...posting multiple times in a row gets rather annoying and difficult to read. The more common xanthy is found in both conditions with equal frequency, but they are NOT what I would call "hardy fish"; in fact, the reputedly more fragile knighties have a far better record of survivability at the store. They will also be greatly disturbed by noticably larger, rowdy fish such as botia sp. I would not do it. Not to start any sort of argument here, but many sites have inaccurate information. Researching ahead of time is definitely good, but you have to watch your sources. They are picky eaters and very social, albeit territorial. The amount of tank space you have does allow you to physically fit a few xanthazonas, but the enviornment is far from ideal. |
br0ke_1T![]() Hobbyist Posts: 98 Kudos: 51 Votes: 0 Registered: 19-Aug-2005 ![]() | Thanks, ill look them up. Are they fin nippers? Any other ideas? Ive started working on the website it should be finnished by tonight |
