Well i am very happy to report that my fry are hanging on well and seem to be very active and happy (flitting about the tank and coming to see me when feeding time etc.)

Few things i have noticed about these guys or the food. Wow are these guys messy! Either the liquifry or them but i swear i have to clean the bottom of the tank every 3-4 days otherwise it starts looking like i have sand in there I alternate between the flakes and liquid stuff now to give them 1 variety and 2 get them used to flakes, slowly weaning them completely to flakes.

i have them set up with a filter, air stone and some anacharis and very little pile of gravel in the center (to aid cleaning and give them something to hide against)

I have been considering putting a few of them in the main tank as a sort of test to see but i feel so bad if i am sacrificing them so other than the mouth thing is there a good time to actually introduce them? (timewise that is)

EDIT: Oh yeah, i forgot to mention i think there is about 30 of them in a 10 gallon tank. When is a good time to pass them off to friends or lfs?

You can pass them on around an inch or so or whenever they don't fit into the mouths of your friend's fishes.

Liquidfry is very messy & you'll have to clean the tank quite often.

shadows,

I hope you are having lots of fun with looking at the fry, there is nothing better than looking into these innocent eyes .

About the size when to give them away: I would suggest you ask the LFS when the want to have them as they might have their own objectives. My LFS wouldn’t take any Mollies or Swordtails at all, not even for free. They say that the risk of introducing an illness is higher than the profit that might be made of selling these fish. My LFS would only take pricier fish with a much higher profit margin or fish that are harder to come by.

Hope this helps,

Ingo
