I was thinking about tang. chichlids but they're very $$$ around here. My other choice is a community, but most fish are too big for that size tank (angelfish, plecos, some gouramis). Does anyone have other suggestions? |

I am thinking about a prehistoric look. I found some fossils upstate that I can't sell, don't have enough room for on the shelves, and don't want to throw out. I was thinking of putting them in my tank as a prehistoric look. I could line the bottom with fine gravel and the fossils. I'd have one big fossil run along the length of the tank. I could put plants between the gaps. It would look just like a jurrasic jungle, only underwater. Then, I'd use some of manburg's hanging gardens in the background (love that idea man!). Do you think, with lots of plants and good water changes, I could make the schools larger over time? Say I have perfect water quality for several months, could I raise the school a fish or two every so often? I'll start with: 2 rams school emerald tetras school hatchets school cories Last edited by djtj at 09-May-2005 17:28 |

Hopefully the fossels work out and don't pollute the water, because the grass/plants coming in through the cracks would be quiet a sight. Good luck and let me know how it goes. |

A good number of fossils are calcium carbonate (limestone) ba Besides, fossils are cool, I'd be worried about them dissolving...:%) -------------------------------------------- The aquarist is one who must learn the ways of the biologist, the chemist, and the veterinarian. |

If they don't effect the water within a week or 2, I'll keep them, otherwise, no. They're poor quality so, I don't care about algae or dissolving or anything. I didn't pay a cent for them, I found them myself, and my other choice was the leave them in the old house. |

I like the community idea, and Little Mousling helped me put together an idea for a tanginakian tank. But I was wondering if those are my only two choices. |
