Perhaps for breeding, a pair could be in a bare-bottom 30, but other than that, nope. They get about 7 inches round, and are very delicate. They also like to be with other discus, so you couldn't put just one in a 30 gallon. The minimum for discus is a 55 gallon, but personally, I'd keep them in a 75 gallon or larger. I wouldn't want to keep such an expensive fish in the bare minimum for ANYTHING. Also, congo tetras are a large schooling tetra. They get a good 3-5 inches in length, so I think they are too big for a 20 gallon. Perhaps a 20 long, if there were just 6 alone. I think they belong in a bigger tank. They'd make a small tank look even smaller, since they're pretty big. They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |

Neons, a pair of blue rams, cories, ottos would make a nice 30g though. If you wanted something a bit larger than the rams for a centerpiece you could get keyholes; not as colorful though. An angel is another choice. Keeping one with neons is chancy though. They're the natural prey of angels but some people have been successful with the combination. Or instead of a cichlid perhaps some sort of gourami. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
