Go with cories and another school of something else. Maybe another school of barbs or you could get away with a school of tetras. Not sure how that would work out though.

The Barbs are fin nipping fish & they'll nip the Corydoras, so you'll better have some hiding places for them.

Like Jason said the barbs will be quite nippy, so if you want the corries they need plenty of plants, and driftwood in order to hide in...

If you want to go with the Tiger Barbs, why not also do a school of green barbs as well That way noone would be any nippier than the other, and it would become an interesting tank

i don't know why people always say that barbs get too nippy. you should have no problem mixing diferent types of barbs. the cories i don't know about but you could do golden barbs of rosey bars or filiment barbs.

I didn't say, all the Barbs are nippy, but importfan878 chose the Tiger Barbs, & those are nippy.

Maybe 30 gal is not enough room,
I just don't know.
In my 55 gal I have 8 Tiger barbs and 7 Albino corys.
Two of the corys are less than an inch long.
Other than follow a little bit, the Tigers completely ignore the corys.
No nipping. The Tigers will fight with each other, although rare, and doesn't last long.
All my Tiger barbs are about two inches long.
