| 35g hex stocking ideas? | |
jacobsstcg![]() Small Fry Posts: 5 Kudos: 6 Votes: 0 Registered: 10-Jan-2006 ![]() | I have been reading FishProfiles for quite some time now but recently I received a new 35g Hex setup for Christmas and decided it would probably be a good time to post to get some stocking ideas. So far my 35g Hex setup is as follows: 35 gallon All-Glass Hex (with stock hood/lighting) Jebo CFS4 Filter (Couldn’t resist for the price) ETH 200 In-Line Heater Whisper Air 60 Air Pump 2" Red Floramax Substrate (was thinking of planting) When I initially started thinking about stocking this tank a show tank with a Discus came to mind. Maybe something like: 1 Discus, 6-8 Rummy Tetra and a couple of Dwarf Gourami. But I am not sure if the Gourami would get along with the Discus, or if the Discus would enjoy the 35g hex size? Also since this tank is probably not going to be planted live becuase of the light issues would the Discus have a problem with artificial plants? Or is there some other combination that would go good in this setup? (Gourami's are a must because the wife likes them). Any input would be greatly appreciated as I know the hex shape requires some unique planning of which I am not all that familiar with. :%) Thanks |

(of course him being older he really can't take care of it anymore, and most of his discus perished) but what about an angel inplace of the dicus, and the DG and tetras. |

Angelfish sound good and would definately appreciate the tall tank. I think your stock sounds good except with 1 angelfish as a replacement for the Discus and maybe a few cory's on the bottom for clean-up. Good luck, hex's and corner tanks can be sorta a pain to deal with (especially if you end up not being able to reach to the bottom of the tank...d'oh >.< ) [edit]auto-smiley Last edited by Tetra Fan at 10-Jan-2006 15:59 |

I have also seen Black Ghosts at the LFS but none of the people there seemed to be very knowledgable about them. From there profile I am worried that it may try to nip at the Tetra or Rasbora, but I noticed that their are quite a few smaller tetra on its compatibility list. Does any one have any experience with these? Their undulating motion sure it cool. |
