Festivum are really social fish. If you want them, get at least three. If not, I would leave the gouramis there. You could mix and match the species as well: a pair or pearl or honey gouramis would work in a snap.

Everything else sounds good. The tetras might be a bit, well, fast for the leaf fish. I would do asian glasscats.

I completely forgot about the cats. Say add 3 and drop the festivum? What about a small pleco for the bottom?

Mmm, how about a pair of bristlenoses? Some of the smaller, more common varieties are nice, too, however, they will cost you a bit more. L-260 (queen arabesque--other hypancistrus seem to be more difficult to find), all panaque with the maccus complex (panaqolus), or peckoltia sp. (nearly all are compact enough/common enough for the said aquarium) are good picks. Also,up the glasscat school to 6.

Two notes-

German rams are more bottom fish than mid-water dwellers. They'll venture upwards if they feel like it, though dense planting helps.

Also, a good Ancistrus species that stays small and is common happens to be [link=A. triradiatus]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/triradiatusbn.xml" style="COLOR: #808080[/link]. I got my male for $11, and he's an awesome fish. You may have to search to find anything beyond Ancistrus sp. fish, but these guys are cool.

Actually, I already have a pleco in mind, the clown pleco. Apparently, they're $$$ and rare in some places, but by me they're $3 for a baby!

Are rams active?

Rams tend to cruise the bottom and they do patrol their territory, but they don't swim all around the tank. Plus, they're usually pretty slow swimmers, and save their energy for bursts of speed. That's what I saw from my rams.

Clown plecs rare? Expensive? In the U.S., I wouldn't have thought that possible. I've seen them in several stores in my fish-impoverished area.
