Hey all!
I am probably getting a 50 gal in a week or two, and here is the stocking list I'm thinking of:

2 silver angels(I already have a quarter sized one that I will be moving)
1 male pearl gourami
6 emerald cats(I already have three)

anything else? I was thinking of maybe a large, long-fined tetra like a diamond or black widow.

The Angels & Gourami will be fine together & 55gal. is a good sized tank for them. The Corydoras & Tetra's are Ok, but i wouldn't add any fin-nipping Tetras.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I'm kinda in limbo now as far as when I'm getting the tank, but it should be soon (i just went to my LFS and saw some long-fined black angels:#(...hopefully they'll still be there for a few weeks)
Are diamond tetras nippy? I really like them. Also, can I cycle the tank with my cats and my angel? I rather not get fish I'll have to get rid of later.

Diamond Tetra's are a bit nippy, but not nippy as other Tetra's. You can do a fishless cycle if you want, as i wouldn't cycle the tank with the Corydoras.

I like your list, labrakitty
Does anyone know a site where I can buy JUST an aquarium(glass....whatever is cheaper) I've been looking for a while and haven't found anything. As long as it's 36x15x20 I want it! I've even looked on ebay, but all the tanks are local dilivery only!
What do I do for a fishless cycle? I was thinking of putting some new gravel in my already cycled other tank, then put it into the 50 when I get it....I'm just slightly depressed about the fact that I can't find a reasonable tank!:#(

Fairy, a fishless cycle is done by adding pure household ammonia to the tank a few drops a day.
Someone on here will know more about it than I do.
That stocking list sounds just fine.
Perhaps though a pair of pearls would be better- they seem to do really well in groups.
The females are also way more friendly to the big face in the window than the males!
Anyway, sounds great.
How about a farlowella catfish for algae control rather than a BN? They are awesome fish.
Sadly mine died a short time a go - i have been unable to replace her
Very cool fish.

OH before I forget, about the tank, go to your favorite pet store and ask the owner/manager if they would be able to special order you a tank in your required size!
All pet stores should be able to put in an order for you.
Usually they can get you a tank within 14 days- even if one has to be made for you.

Thanks Sneaky_Pete! I like the farlowella cat! Plus, I put down one gourami, because I didn't know if there would be too many fish in there, but I like the idea of a pair!
Also, i found a site that is great. It is glasscages.com, and I found an acrylic tank for $95! YAY!!! (my dad looked at it and said "great"!...) I'm soooo excited. It'll probably still be a few weeks, but I can't wait. (a 50 gal sure beats a 10!!)
