hey i just put my AC's up and one is in my room, so yesterday my aquarium teperature went from 85 to 80 now i know my aquarium is at a ok teperature but i think my temp droped too much too fast and 2 of neons are swimming crokked so what can i do???

Make sure your heater is set and working for one. Right now watch for any signs of ich over the next few days, if you dont have any ich meds on hand you might pick some up just in case.
In future situations where the AC will be turned on when the tank is already above where you have the heater set, I'd suggest raising the heater temp to match room temp, then bringing tank temp down once the AC has been turned on. This is all just to insure that the overall tank temperature doesn't fluctuate more than a few (2-4) degrees in a 24 hour period. Generally the slower a temperature change is brought about the less the stress on the fish.

All tanks should have a heater to prevent temperature fluctuations like you just experienced.

The purpose of a heater (IMO) isn't to heat a tank so much as it's to maintain a tanks temperature.

Not having a heater is just asking for trouble. Especially with fish that have a narrow temperature range.

thanx, and i know i'm planning on getting one, its a 10 gallon can i buy the cheap 15-20$ one for my aqarium???

and one of neons is extrmly small and hes swimming near the top smashing everything(walls, rocks.plants) is there a possibity he is sick???

You'll want around 5 watts per gallon. In that size tank 50 watts.

My experience is that submersibles, while more expensive are much easier to use than a HOB heater.

I picked up my last heater for my newest 10 gallon from Wal-Mart (figured it's safe to suggest that since their everywhere) for around $15 and it's submersible. It's the second one I've bought (another one on a different tank) and I've had no problems with them at all.
