divertran,

If you are financially in a situation that allows you to subscribe to only one magazine then I would recommend the “Tropical Fish Hobbyist” (see also sticky on top of this forum).

I have that one and Aquarium Fish Magazine and I like the TFH much better (better articles and writers). The Aquarium Fish Magazine is a nice addition, but I find it less informative.

Aquarium Fish is ok, I don't mind it. I found the articles a bit less exciting than a lot of the threads on here, and well, FP is free, so i kinda didn't feel i could justify spending betta money on it

I am also a TFH fan/subscriber, and I also buy a UK publication called Practical Fishkeeping. I find these 2 have the best articles and the most relevant information for where I am in the hobby at the moment.

I occasionally flick through FAMA too, but I have a tendancy to put it back on the shelf.

I wish there was still an Aussie fish mag so much of the stuff from OS is irrelevant to us

The finances have little to do with it. I was just wondering what good mags are out there. AF just didn't do it for me, I thought it was a bit on the boring side actually

I actually reall like AFM's basic set-up; most days I'd rather read Q&As on an enormous variety of topics than long articles on a handful of things, many of which don't interest me much.

However, the best mag IMO is Practical Fishkeeping, hands down. If you're going to shell out cash - subscribe to PFK. The Q&As of AFM, the advanced topics of Freshwater and Marine Aquarium magazine, and the broader articles and photo-focus of Tropical Fishkeeping - what's not to love?

Of course, I subscribe to all four of those, plus Cichlid News and the Buntbarcshe Bulletin, so I'm a weirdo.
