I have decided on a pair of kribensis for my 20 gallon high tank. I am cycling it right now with guppies. Should i get bio-spira? Or just wait? More importantly, what other fish can i add? So far the stocking is just:

2 kribensis

(I will be putting the guppies back in their own tank when I add the other fish)

If you are trying to breed the Kribensis, just leave them on their own. If you add fish, they will be chased by the Kribensis when they'll breed.

I love the rock work in this tank i think it would look awsome if you got a carpet of cryptatone parva

Cryptatone parva

2 large stem plants behind the 2 rainbow rocks like wisteria and ambulia with a red melon sword infront of the centre piece of rockwork.

How about adding 6 Tiger Barbs of any color variation? I like the moss greens myself, I think they would do well, and would be tough and aggressive enough to live with kribs.

So you think 2 kribensis and 6 tiger barbs would be a good mix? I think the tiger barbs are fast enough to not get hurt by the kribensis. Does anyone have any experience with these two fish together?

Another thing is that i have very low lighting, so i need low light plants, would the Cryptatone parva survive in low light, and furthermore can the other plants that are suggested?

Ok, well i just got an email from someone and they have a pair of pulcher for $30. How does this sound?

Thanks so much for all your help already!

Hi,
Well I havent kept kribs, so I dont know for sure, but I know my sister kept a variety of fish with her kribs, and all those ended up with dead ones in their groups thanks to the kribs, so those are all fish I would avoid mixing with kribs (platys, swords, neons, pristellas, angelfish, goldfish, corys, gouramis).

I just assume because tigers are larger, faster, and tougher than most other fish that they would be OK. I am sure someone on here can verify that or not though for you.

As for the low light plants, I can answer to that. I have 1 tank with really low lighting as well.
The plant that person showed a picture of, is not Cryptocorne Parva. I am unsure what crypt it is, but it is not parva.
Some crypts would do very well in your tank-
such as Cryptocoryne beckettii ''petchii'', Cryptocoryne cordata (blassii), Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae.

Other options for you would be Wisteria - which I have found will not grow very well at all in anything above 1wpg, it gets burned.
Also, Marimo Balls, Java Fern and Windelove Java Fern, Swords of most types, Bacopa Carolinia, and Vallisneria Americana all do well in .5wpg (my 25g tank has this).
Also Dwarf Lotus does very well as well. Anubias plants would do well, as would Banana plants, and so would hornwort.
