I have been getting rid of mollies like CRAZY!!!!!

um so far my 55 gallon contains:

2 f adult mollies (one dalmation one creamsickle)\
1 m dwarf marigold platy
6 1m/5f long-finned white skirt tetras
1 common pleco (less than 5 inches) (also looking for a new home)
20 juvenile molly fry
1 m dwarf gourami

I plan on adding a school of some type of corydoras ( i cant find pandas for anything where i'm at)

are there any other suggestions on some colorful peaceful community fish?

I keep the tank around 80 F
i don't add salt, and the tank is moderately planted with assorted swords and whatnot.

If you take away the Molly fry, you can add 2 schools of Tetras & a school of Corydoras.

What type of Corydoras do you find in your LFS?.

I read your other thread. Persevere with the Pandas, it'l be worth it believe me - mine spawned last night and zoomed around the aquarium like they were jet propelled

As for dealing with Molly fry, well, one possible answer is to set up an aquarium containing something nice and predatory that will eat them all. Something that is relatively sedate and won't place big demands on space. Monocirrhus polyacanthus, the South American Leaf Fish, is a possibility. Only if you DO get something like that, be advised that it might need a regular supply of live fishes for good health (Leaf Fishes definitely fall into that category). Alternatively, something that won't need live food but will relish it when it's offered, such as an Apistogramma dwarf Cichlid, might fit the bill. There's plenty of fishes out there that will munch livebearer fry without breaking the bank or needing a vast aquarium to keep them in.

Commercial breeders of livebearers usually have predatory fish on hand to deal with surpluses and runts. However, they're dealing in such numbers that they can afford to keep something that needs live food, for the simple reason that they'll never run out of food for it.

I like Zebra Danios with my mollys. A school of them would do nicely. Although they have been known to be nippy, I have never had a problum with them, and I kept them with guppys at one point. They are currently with my mollys and plattys and seem very good (And will keep down your population)

jason- i do not have an lfs where i am-- Tulsa, Oklahoma
i like the tehe tetra idea, but ive only had the skirt tetras, any suggestions?
on corydoras, mainly i've been able to find albino-which i hear are no bueno, bronze-which i dont really like the coloring, one called aeneus (sp?)-i think they're okay but i dont really want to buy them from petco... because petco sells "berry tetras" which are dyed.. and... i dont support that

Calilasseia- I definately want to hold out for what i want. i'm not really worried about the fry all that much, because i do have a friend with a pet snapping turtle that would eat them if i cant find good homes... soooo... i have that one in the bag

inkling- I've already done my rounds with zebra danio, both long-finned versions, spotted leopard version, giant danios, and.. i just dont really like them anymore, i want to add some color, but thank you for the suggestions..

can anyone suggest a type of tetra, or if there are anymore suggestions?

I always suggest Rummynose Tetras, as they have beautiful colours, school together & are very active.
