| Advice on adding new fish | |
purrsian![]() Small Fry Posts: 2 Kudos: 1 Votes: 0 Registered: 17-Oct-2005 | I've been wanting to add some new fish for a while as my tank looks fairly bare. I currently have an albino shark, two lemon tetras and two neon tetras. I have had them for at least a year, so the tetras are quite large now. I have a snail problem, so I looked at clown loaches but they're too big for my tank to keep several. Are there any smaller fish that eat snails? I think I have a 55 gallon. I saw a few fish I like at the pet store the other day but I'm having difficulty finding any info on them. Plate scales, coloured xray fish, can't remember the others Are they compatible with my current fish? I like silver tipped tetras, but would it be best if I added a few more lemon/neon tetras again (had lots, they all died ) instead of new types of fish? Thanks for any advice ![]() |

As a heads up...any fish that's called "colored" is quite likely to be a dyed fish ...which is a very cruel process and you should avoide at all costs. You're right...clown loaches will get too large for your tank...but there are others that'll be happy to munch on snails as well as other options for getting rid of them if they're really being pests and eating all your plants. I really think you should fill out the schools of schooling fish you already have...that will go a long way to filling up the tank .^_^[hr width='40%'] "in any case, chocolate is hardly a rare comodity." said Chaos. I have a Clown Loach same size in my 30+Lt Betta tank You can find more info Have a look in [link=My Profile]http:// www.fishprofiles.com/interactive/forums/profile.asp?userid=6741" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] for my tank info [link=Betta 11Gal Desktop & Placidity 5ft Community Tanks]http://photobucket.com/albums/b209/keithgh/Betta%20desktop%20tank/" style="COLOR: #00FF00[/link] The Clown Loach can be taken out later and and placed into a larger tank or prearrange to return it to you local LFS My little fella removed all the snails within one week Keith ![]() ![]() Near enough is not good enough, therefore good enough is not near enough, and only your best will do. Loaches don't have to be in schools but like the company of their own kind; I'd go with at least 3. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
purrsian![]() Small Fry Posts: 2 Kudos: 1 Votes: 0 Registered: 17-Oct-2005 | Thanks so much for the quick replies! Coloured xrays are a nono then, and I think I will add a few more of the tetras I already have. Are yoyo loaches expensive? I just haven't seen any in the stores around here. Thank you guys! |
