Hey guys!
Sorry didnt know where else to post this question! My upstairs "neighbor" has a 5 gallon tank with 2 african clawed frogs, a chinese algae eater, and goldfish (not sure what kind) being somewhat of a newbie myself i wasnt sure if this was an appropriate set up. The lady in the LFS told her that the frogs grow to be the size of softballs, surely it cant be right to keep them in a 5 gal? And doesnt the algae eater get to be pretty large also? Any info, questions of comments about this?
Thanks
Sam

The biggest problems are those goldfish. Fancy goldfish usually reach at least six inches, while common goldfish can top two feet! And yes, that "algae eater" (probably a Chinese algae eater) will get to a foot as well. On top of that, they stop eating algae at a certain size, and become territorial.

Yes, the frogs will outgrow that setup as well. They grow to five or six inches, and can be fairly aggressive. I hate to say it, but your neighbor obviously didn't do any research at all before buying those fish or the frogs.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

ohhh yes...quite a few problems

Goldfish for starters, grow to be over 6 inches long, and being big waste producers, need 55 gallons a fish.

CAEs...they grow big and nasty if I'm not mistaken Ditch it...

ACFs do grow to be the size of softbals and will be nasty as well. I'd upgrade their tank to at least a ten gallon for now. ADFs are a much better choice in the future.

EDIT: Arg, Nick beat me
