I don't know of any schooling cichlids except for three or four species at most.

There are plenty of tetras from Africa, such as the Congo and jellybean tetras. However, your catfish (Clarias batrachus, right?) is going to get big, probably too big for that tank. Plus, it will be able to gobble up any little schooling fish you want to keep with it. I think they're supposed to be kept alone. I think you should worry more about the catfish itself than about what other fish will go in the tank.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I think it will need a bigger tank in the future.
I also think that Congo Tetra's are the only African schooling fish.
