Recently a couple weeks ago she took a sudden hatred to my dwarf gourami male. Now she totally harrasses him so much he hides in a corner except during feeding times. He is very stressed out and has a couple of small nip marks on his fins. I am unsure what to do, but heres what I thought of: I could swap my Paradise Fish from my 10g tank to my 75, and put the DG in my 10g with the hasbrosus corys and guppies (who are soon going to a new home) My only other option is to put the DG in my 25 with Pete and Sid, my breeding angels. I dont think this is best option. Should I swap the Dg and the Paradise? Do you think the Paradise would be ok with my 4 large pearl gouramis? The female paradise fish is much larger than my little DG. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

It didnt work, Angel went after the Paradise fish same as the Dwarf Gourami. So, My boyfriend has decided I shall try the Paradise and the DG in the 10g tank. So far so good, no signs of aggression whatsoever! I am going to keep a close eye and see if it works out. Perhaps it will because the Dg is male and the Paradise is female! *crosses fingers and hopes* If not, I will have to try one of them in my 25g with my breeding angels. Sigh, fish are so particular and "quaint" sometimes. ]:| @ Rosy for being so mean Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

These two species of fish shoul dnot be mixed in a community tank at all. Sometimes it works out for some people, but most of the time you're just inviting a mini-war and dead fish in your tank. Hoping that there must be a word for everything I mean... |

Sometimes this can lead to them considering their cousin to be a rival and they exhibit interspecies aggression, but other times they are peaceful with one another. It all depends on the individual personality of the fish - some are more aggressive than others. Angelfish also tend to become more aggressive when they are older, which would explain why this behavior was not shown before. The angelfish likely won't stop harassing the "rival" until it is gone - You will probably need to find another home for the gourami. ![]() I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash. |

Hopefully this will continue to work out. Its odd that Rosy has a problem with the dwarf gourami. Both of her parents (my breeding pair) were with dwarf gouramis for a couple of years without any problems at all. Also, The male sailfin molly also was attacking the DG too. Rosy and the Sailfin would tag team it into a corner where it would hide and sulk. Strange. Anyway everything is OK now! The angel does not both any other fish just that one. Seems odd that she picks on the Dwarf. Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

The gourami has been moved as I mentioned, and is now sharing a 10g tank with a female paradise fish and that is going very well.
